About
My name is Rhett Smith. Rhett, because my parents wanted something that sounded Texan, and that wasn't as common as my last name of Smith.
I was born in Odessa, TX in 1975, but moved shortly after that to Glendale/Peoria, Az, where I was raised.
I completed my Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1997 at Grand Canyon University, which is a small, Christian liberal arts college in Phoenix, Az.
After graduation I pursued a number of random jobs, ultimately becoming an Admissions Counselor for Grand Canyon University from February 1998 to March of 2001. At that time I began pursuing my Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, at their extension campus in Phoenix. But after 3 years of working full-time, and going to seminary full-time, I decided to quit my job and do some traveling, and to make the move over to Pasadena, Ca to the main campus.
So from March of 2001 to June of 2001 I lived in Antigua, Guatemala, studying Spanish, doing volunteer work, and traveling. I eventually moved to Pasadena in August of 2001 to complete my degree.
I came to Bel Air shortly after that, working as an intern in the college ministry from October of 2001, and eventually becoming the full-time college director in July of 2002. I graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with my Master of Divinity in June of 2003, and I graduated with my Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy degree in 2007.
I am married to my wonderful wife Heather, so life is pretty good.
